The Chariton girls cross country team had an outstanding night at the Charger Invite at Red Haw State Park this past Thursday night. Chariton finished second overall as a team behind only Davis County with 66 points and they had four girls finish in the top 15 to earn medals including Emerson Fehrer, Haddon Anderson, Milanna Primakov and Sailor Anderson.

Fehrer led Chariton placing seventh overall in 22:26. Haddon Anderson placed eighth in 22:29. Primakov placed 10th in 22:58 and Sailor Anderson placed 15th in 23:33.

Nadiia Miroshnik placed 32nd in 24:59. Jayden Jensen placed 42nd in 25:34. Vivian Bauer placed 48th in 25:50.

Davis County won the overall Varsity girls team standings with 27 points. Chariton was second with 66 and Albia was third with 94. Twin Cedars was fourth with 103. Cardinal of Eldon was fifth with 137. Pleasantville was sixth with 142. Grandview Christian was seventh with 152.

Melcher-Dallas, Moravia, Southeast Warren, Moulton-Udell, Wayne and Clarke each didn’t field enough runners to register a team score.

There were no JV team points or places kept. Milana Gogan led Chariton in the JV race placing 40th in 25:28. Abby Kopytko placed 55th in 26:35. Alyssa Rippel placed 58th in 26:59.

Haylee Sonius placed 59th in 27:09. Cheyenne Andrews placed 65th in 28:10 and Vanessa Pyatak placed 66th in 28:14.
