The Chariton Middle School cross country team ran well at the Pleasantville Invitational Sept. 13.

For the CMS boys, 7th grader Lucas Anderson placed third overall and first in the seventh grade division in a time of 10:31 on a 1.7 mile course.

Anderson’s teammate, Brent Crabb, placed fourth overall and third in the eight grade division in a time of 10:45.

“Both Brent and Lucas ran really well tonight. This was an add on meet and they chose to go and run despite not having a full team,” Coach Tom Anderson said.

Chariton’s only girl who went to the Pleasantville meet, 8th grader Avery Berst, finished 56th in 17:23.

“Avery ran a really good race tonight. I’m proud of the way the kids ran tonight. They want to get better and it shows. Unfortunately, we didn’t place as a team in either division tonight, but the future of these runners looks pretty good,” Coach Anderson said.
