The Chariton Varsity girls soccer team hosted the Clarke Indians on Thursday evening, April 15, and came away with a convincing 7-0 win.

Chariton got off to a great start when just seven minutes into the contest Clarke was whistled for a foul inside the penalty box. Senior forward, Clara Stuart confidently stepped to the penalty spot and put the ball in the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.

Not long afterwards senior forward, Jessica Boldyrev, went on a scoring spree herself, netting a hat-trick over the next 11 minutes. Boldyrev’s first goal was on a break-away in which she beat the goalie with a deft pass.

One minute later, Boldyrev intercepted a Clarke pass and again finished on a break-away to give Chariton a 3-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Chariton won a corner kick and Alyssa Rippel sent a beautiful ball in front of the goal, which Boldyrev headed into the goal. The Chargers went into halftime with a 4-0 lead.

Just two minutes into the second half, midfielder Milana Gogan gathered a loose ball and quickly took a shot, beating the Clarke keeper. Two more Chargers got into the scoring, with sophomore Milanna Primakov showing great determination to stay after a ball to score and with just minutes left in the game, Senior Allyson McClure got her first goal of the season by intercepting a pass and driving it into the goal.

The win leaves the Chargers with a 2-3 record.
