2010 Chariton State softball team honored

The 2010 Chariton Varsity Softball team that placed third overall in Class 3A at the State Tournament that year was honored in between games against Interstate 35 at Savage Field in Chariton Tuesday night, July 7.

“Savage Park welcomes back the CHS State Softball Team of 2010. It’s the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest teams in CHS history, which had a record of 27-4 overall and went a perfect 10-0 overall in South Central Conference play. They also climbed to #4 overall in the Class 3A rankings that year. At the State Tournament, they lost 3-2 to eventual 3A champion Carlisle,” the announced stated.

The announcer then read off the names of the 2010 State Tournament team and members who were present came on to the field. All the team members were as follows: Tanna Seuferer, Layne (Grgurich) Logue, Chelsea Miller, Emma (Fuhs) Kemper, Hally (Lenzine) Gass, Miranda (Davis) Greubel, Kylie Bengtson, Presley (Swan) McCormick, Brittany Smith, Amelia McGee, Hannah Fuhs, Abbee (Curran) Nielsen, Erin Richmond, Tori White and Savannah Wright.

The coaches of the 2010 team were also honored including Head Coach Deb Seuferer and Assistant coaches Kris Bengtson, Kit Daugherty, Anna Anderson and Brenda Peterson.

The announcer also read some comments from Coach Seuferer about the 2010 team. “This team played with no fear. They were so much fun to coach. I’m extremely proud of this team. It was such a fun summer and I will cherish those memories forever,” Coach Seuferer said.
