A strong second half wasn’t quite enough for the Chariton 8th grade girls Red basketball team in a 31-20 loss at Chariton Jan. 5.

Chariton got down early and trailed 14-5 at halftime. They rallied to score 15 points in the second half but it wasn’t quite enough.

“We got in some foul trouble early, which hurt us, but the girls battled back and never gave up,” Chariton Head Coach Jeanna Snook said.

Paige Ballard led Chariton with eight points to go along with five rebounds and one block. Lucy Stratton had four points and a team-high eight rebounds. Sydney Cain had four points, two rebounds and two assists. Haillee Smith had three points, two rebounds and two assists.

Samantha Sharp had seven rebounds. Addie Peterson had three rebounds. Brynlee Bingham had two rebounds and one steal. Olyvia Ohnemus had one rebound.

There was no second game or White team game against Pleasantville.
