The Chariton 7th grade girls Red basketball team played outstanding in a 25-3 win over Pleasantville at Chariton Jan. 5.

The CMS 7th Red girls shut out Pleasantville in the first half and led 15-0 at halftime. They held the Trojans to just three points in the second half.

“This was such a good game for our team. It has been an odd year due to COVID, so every opportunity we have to play is a terrific opportunity to learn. They have really started to get a feel for the zone defense and the full court press, which resulted in some good steals and fast breaks. I have been pleased with their ability to run the floor and to find the open girl. They are a fun team to watch,” Chariton Coach Rachel Schoenig-Watkins said.

Payton Snook led Chariton with eight points to go along with five rebounds, three assists, five steals and one block. Bailey McGee had seven points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal. Ellie Lane had six points, five rebounds and two steals.

Kennedy Carr had four points and two rebounds. Elli Masters had three rebounds. Ava Krutsinger had two rebounds and four steals. Ava Nickell had one rebound.

There was no second game or White team game against Pleasantville.
