The regular meeting of the Lucas County Genealogical Society was held on 13 September 2021 at the Chariton Public Library. Vice President Don Holmes called the meeting to order.

Recording Secretary Sue Terrell gave the minutes of the previous meeting, which were approved. Assistant Treasurer Melody Wilson gave the monthly report of the treasurer, which was approved.

Corresponding Secretary Melody Wilson read a thank you card from the Knoxville DAR regarding their visit to the research room. She also had a call from a Brinegar descendant about repairing a family monument at the Brinegar Cemetery.The family was referred to the township trustees. There was correspondence from Chariton family member requesting information about the origin of his last name. He was referred to the information in a 1927 State of Iowa publication.

For unfinished business Don Holmes notified members the discussion regarding the Goshen Cemetery has been tabled until the next Executive Committee meeting.

For new business Melody Wilson reminded the members of the upcoming Chariton Cemetery Tour sponsored by the Chariton Historic Preservation Commission on Sunday, 19 September 2021.

The previously scheduled program for the evening was cancelled.

There will be no October monthly meeting due to the Chariton Library closure on Columbus Day. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 8 2021.
