At their meeting this past Wednesday morning, the Lucas County Board of Supervisors approved to abate the property taxes for the Vredenburg Center at 1711 Osceola Ave. in Chariton for 2018-19. The board approved this by a 2-1 vote with supervisors Cathy Reece and Dennis Smith voting yes and supervisor Larry Davis voting no.

The Lucas County Health Center Hospital Board of Trustees discussed the property taxes on the Vredenburg Center at their recent meeting Sept. 29. The Hospital Board unanimously agreed not to pay the center’s property taxes for 2018 and 2019 and they requested that the county abate the property taxes for this period.

The board of supervisors also approved a separate tax abatement for District CHCC parcel # 0720378007.

The board also approved two cancelled checks that had been issued by the county treasurer. The total amount of the cancelled checks is $23 and this amount has been deposited into the County General Basic Fund pursuant to Section 331.554(6) (7) of the Iowa Code.

Financial reports approved

The board also approved the monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly financial reports.

The county recorder’s revenue for September totaled $6,513.41. The county Clerk of Court’s revenue for September totaled $663.31.
