Hy-Vee, Inc. has announced that the Hy-Vee Chariton Distribution Center recently donated $50,000 to the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department. The donation is part of Hy-Vee’s commitment to employees of the distribution center and the local Chariton community.
The $50,000 donation was awarded to the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department to supplement the total cost of the department’s ladder truck, purchased in 2018. In addition to serving as a trained volunteer organization, Chariton’s volunteer firefighters sponsor a variety of community outreach events each year, including conventions, banquets and open houses. Likewise, many fire department volunteers are employed by the Hy-Vee Chariton Distribution Center and assist with warehouse operations.
Hy-Vee believes a well-equipped fire department is an essential pillar of every community. The Hy-Vee Chariton Distribution Center’s donation to the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department is just one way the company continues to foster community growth, safety, and success.
