A total of $11,000 was donated by check to the Chariton Splash Pad project at the Chariton City Council meeting held Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Jason Gibbs of Clarke Electric Cooperative in Osceola was on hand to do the check presentation to the Chariton City Council members.

The $11,000 donation included $6,000 that was donated from Clarke Electric Cooperative through the Operation Round-Up Program and $5,000 from the Central Iowa Power Cooperative in Cedar Rapids.

“The Operation Round-Up Board decided the Splash Pad was a very worthwhile project. They voted to exceed the $5,000 limit by $1,000 because they did feel so strongly about it,” Gibbs said.

The Chariton Splash Pad will be located in the old sand pit next to the Chariton swimming pool.
