The Chariton School Board approved two resignations and one contract for employment at their monthly meeting Jan. 11.
The board approved the resignation of Chariton High School science teacher Abigail Diehl effective at the end of the 2020-21 school year. In her resignation letter, Diehl said she will be moving out of state to be closer to loved ones, so she wouldn’t be able to renew her contract.
“I have enjoyed my four years at Chariton High School, and have grown immensely both personally and professionally. I will miss working so closely with my science team, and I hope my replacement will have as great of a working environment as I was blessed to have,” Diehl said in her resignation letter.
The board also approved the resignation of Alla Pierschbacher as a part-time associate at Columbus Elementary.
The board approved a contract for Tom Anderson to be the new High School Assistant Girls Track Coach, replacing Deb Seuferer who held the position for many years before retiring this past summer. Anderson is also the CHS girls cross country coach and the Assistant High School Wrestling Coach.
“Coach Anderson has done a good job of coaching our high school girls cross country team and will be a good addition to the girls track program,” Chariton Athletic Director Tim Milledge said in his recommendation of Anderson for the position.
Various athletic officials’ contracts were also approved. The board also approved the secretary’s report and bills.
