First place finishes in the 4 x 200 relay and the high jump were the biggest highlights for the Chariton boys track team at the Centerville Relays this past Thursday afternoon.
Chariton had a second place finish in the 4 x 800 relay and third place finishes in the 800-meter run, 110-meter hurdles, shuttle hurdle relay and the 4 x 100 relay.
Jackson Fisher won the high jump with a jump of 6’4”, which was six inches higher than the second place finisher’s jump. The 4 x 200 team of Brady Hamilton, Fisher, Dylan Cain and Payton Lavender placed first overall in 1:35.61. Their time was two seconds higher than second place finisher Centerville’s was.
As a team, Chariton tied Moravia for fourth overall with 71 points. Centerville won the meet with 136 points. Davis County was second with 87 and Keokuk was third with 77.
Wayne was sixth with 43 and Knoxville was seventh with 31. Seymour was eighth with 29. Scotland County (Mo.) was ninth with 27. Mormon Trail was 10th with 14.
In the 4 x 800 relay, the team of Tyler Goben, Hunter Koehn, Trae Hall and Ben Lahart placed second overall in 8:53.48.
In the 800-meter run, Ben Lahart placed third overall in 2:12.46. Hall placed eighth overall in 2:20.08.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Alex Bates placed third overall in 19.80.
In the shuttle hurdle relay, the team of Braydon Simms, Bates, Luke Lahart and Austin Ruth placed third overall in 1:20.88. In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Hamilton, Fisher, Cain and Lavender placed third overall in 46.56.
