Chariton had six wrestlers compete at the Varsity Lenox Invitational Tournament this past weekend. The Chargers placed ninth out of 11 teams with 73 points.
Jacob Chapman placed third at 106 pounds and Logan Demichelis placed third at 182. Octavio Garcia placed fourth at 113 and Jayden Allen-Winston placed fourth at 195. Tanner Ballard placed fifth at 145. Allen Constable competed at 132 but didn’t place.
At 106, Chapman received a bye in round one. In the quarterfinal, Chapman pinned D.J. Islas of East Union in 2:57. In the semifinal, Chapman was pinned by Mason Hamilton of South Harrison in 1:45. In the consolation semis, Chapman pinned Garrett Sherrill of South Harrison in 1:56.
In the third place match, Chapman won by a 10-7 decision over Ayden Sengmany of Treynor to finish third.
At 182, Demichelis received a bye in round one. In the quarterfinals he pinned Jesse Lawson of Bedford/Lenox in 1:19. In the semifinal Demichelis was pinned by Blayke Kolb of Maysville in 2:49. In the consolation semis, Demichelis pinned Cody Robb of East Union in 51 seconds.
In the third place match, Demichelis pinned Kaden Jacobs of Southwest Valley in 17 seconds to finish third.
At 113, Garcia was pinned by Timmy Williams of South Harrison in 1:50 in round one. In round two, Garcia was pinned by Elliott Cooney of Nodaway Valley in 38 seconds. In round three, Garcia was pinned by Dawson Erickson of Southwest Iowa in two minutes even.
