The Chariton Varsity baseball team got their second win of the season in a 3-0 win over Albia at Chariton Monday night. With the win, Chariton moved to 2-1 overall.

The game was scoreless after two innings and the Chargers broke the tie with two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead. They added one more run in the bottom of the fifth.

Chariton pitchers Jackson Fisher and Brady Hamilton threw well on the mound to get the shutout. Fisher got the win going five and 2/3 innings and giving up no runs and three hits while striking out nine and walking two. Hamilton pitched one and 1/3 innings and gave up no runs and no hits while striking out none and walking one.

Each team had three hits in the game. Albia committed four errors and Chariton had three. Chariton left eight runners on base and Albia left six. Chariton had six strikeouts and four walks offensively while Albia had nine strikeouts and three walks.

At the plate, second baseman Reid Walters went 2-3 with two singles and an RBI. Fisher went 1-3 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk.

Hamilton went 0-4 at the plate. Left fielder Tristan Brackett went 0-2 with a run scored and was hit by a pitch. He also had one sacrifice. Catcher Colbie Werts went 0-2 with a walk.
