The Chariton Varsity Volleyball team began their season against Central Decatur and Wayne in a triangular match at Chariton Tuesday night.
Both matches were close as the Lady Chargers fell to Central Decatur 2-0 in the first match with the scores being 19-25 and 21-25. In the second match Chariton fell to Wayne 21-25 and 25-27.
In the first match against Central Decatur, Chariton served well going 29-33 with six aces. Abby Tuttle went 9-10 with three aces. Riley Mackey went 8-8 with two aces. Leah Doran went 3-3 and Trinity Rodgers went 3-3. Taylor Welch went 2-3 with one ace. Bailey Shelton went 2-2. Avery Hall went 2-4.
In hitting, Chariton went 16-21 with six kills. Hall went 8-10 with two kills. Taylor Pennington went 4-5 with two kills. Mikayla McCurdy went 3-3 with one kill. Doran went 1-1 with one kill. Rodgers went 0-1 and Esther Sundquist went 0-1.
In setting, Mackey and Tuttle each had three assists. Hall and Tuttle each had one dig. In blocking, Hall had one block solo.
In the second match against Wayne, Chariton went 33-41 serving with seven aces. Doran went 12-13 with five aces. Mackey went 7-8. Tuttle went 5-5 with one ace and Hall went 4-6. Rodgers went 3-5 with one ace. Welch went 1-2 and Shelton went 1-2.
