The Chariton girls cross country team qualified for state as a team at the state qualifier meet at Panora this past Thursday night. The Lady Chargers qualified by placing third overall as a team with 95 points, just three-points behind second place Emmetsburg.
The Lady Chargers also finished ahead of 10th ranked Panorama to qualify for state. Panorama finished fourth with 108 points. Adair-Casey Guthrie Center (ACGC) was the girls meet champion and also qualified for State along with Chariton and Emmetsburg. ACGC won the meet with 61 points.
The Class 2A girls state cross country race is at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 2, at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. Chariton is one of 15 Class 2A teams to qualify for the meet.
“Tonight was a great night. It was a close meet; we didn’t know where we had finished until they announced the placings. The girls are really excited and ready to run next weekend,” Chariton Head Coach Tom Anderson said.
The top 15 individual runners and top three teams qualify for state at the state qualifying meet. Chariton had one runner qualify for state individually as well in Milanna Primakov, who placed seventh overall in 21:32.
