CHS Varsity girls medaled at Wayne meet

Chariton Varsity girls medaling at the Wayne County Invitational held Sept. 5 are from left: Ruth Vahnenko (14th), Lubove Vahnenko (15th), Haddon Anderson (3rd), and Milanna Primakov (7th).

The Chariton girls cross country team began their season with an outstanding performance at the Wayne Invitational this past Thursday afternoon. The Lady Chargers placed second overall as a team in both the varsity and JV team standings and had four girls place in the top 15 in varsity to earn medals.

Freshman Haddon Anderson placed third overall in the varsity girls race in 22:46. Freshman Millanna Primakov placed seventh in 23:14. Junior Ruth Vahnenko placed 14th in 24:22. Senior Lubove Vahnenko placed 15th in 24:39.

Haylee Sonius placed eighth overall in the JV race in 28:34 to earn a medal.

Also in the varsity race, Sailor Anderson placed 20th overall in 25:58. Milana Gogan placed 29th in 27:29 and Nadia Miroshnik placed 30th in 27:35.

Also in the JV girls race, Angel Blagsvedt placed 11th in 28:53. Vita Belonozhko placed 13th in 29:03. Jayden Jensen placed 14th in 29:05. Vivian Bauer placed 18th in 30:27. Abby Kopytko placed 19th in 30:32.

Cheyenne Andrews placed 23rd in 23:02. Alena Rudenko placed 24th in 32:08. Alyssa Rippel placed 25th in 33:46. Dora Davison placed 27th in 34:34.
