The Chariton 7th grade football team ended their season with a 44-22 loss at Centerville Oct. 17. The loss gave the 7th Chargers a final record of 1-3-1.
Brock Oxenreider had another great game rushing with 154 yards rushing on 21 carries with three touchdowns of eight, 18 and three yards and two two-point conversions.
“Both teams came ready to play on offense. Brock scored twice in the first half with runs of eight and 18 yards. But the difference in this game came down to two key details: Centerville scoring right before halftime to give them a 22-14 lead, and us throwing an interception for a Centerville touchdown early in the third quarter,” Chariton Head Coach Chad Darrah said.
The 7th Chargers came back as Oxenreider scored on a three-yard run and he scored on a two-point conversion to make the score 30-22 in favor of Centerville. However, Centerville scored two more times to put the game out of reach.
Kenton Jensen rushed for 12 yards on two carries and Josh Primakov rushed for nine yards on one carry.
At quarterback, Quinten Gruwell completed two passes for 43 yards. Oxenreider went 1-1 for 20 yards.
Jensen caught one pass for 27 yards. Skyler Storm caught one pass for 20 yards and Cayden Schlutz caught one pass for 16 yards.
