Chariton girls cross country team is Central Decatur meet champions

The Chariton girls cross country team claimed the championship at the Central Decatur meet on Sept. 10. The Chariton Varsity girls cross country team reigned supreme as the overall team champion at the Central Decatur meet Tuesday night. Chariton won the meet by over 40 points and they also had the overall individual champion as well in freshman Haddon Anderson, who placed first in 22:35.

Chariton had three girls place in the top five and five in the top 10. Lubove Vahnenko placed third overall in 23:12 and Sailor Anderson placed fourth in 23:15. Milanna Primakov placed sixth in 23:46 and Ruth Vahnenko placed 10th in 24:15. Each of the five girls who placed in the top 10 earned medals at the meet.

Deanna Primakov placed 13th in 24:55. Nadia Miroshnik placed 14th in 24:56.

Chariton was first in the overall girls team standings with 20 points. Pleasantville was second with 62 and Central Decatur was third with 67. Wayne was fourth with 81. Melcher-Dallas, Southeast Warren, Diagonal and Clarke each didn’t register a team score.

In the JV race no official team scores were kept but if scores had been recorded, they would’ve finished first overall as well with 15 points.
