Carol was united in marriage to Verlan John Owens on January 1, 1960 in Newton, Iowa. They resided on the family farm in Rock Creek Township northwest of Grinnell, where they raised their sons, Jeffrey and James. Carol had worked at several local businesses including GenTel; daycare at the United Methodist Church, Friendship Manor; Grinnell Schools as a cook, and was a longtime employee at DeLong’s Sportswear in Grinnell. Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She always kept her candy jar fully stocked for her grandchildren when they stopped by. She loved life on the farm and raising animals. Her enjoyments were having tea with the ladies, going to the casino, playing cards and dice, sewing, cooking, and fishing. She will be remembered for the love of her family and for being ornery and feisty.
