Linda Reed, 74, was born July 20, 1945 in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Oran and Abbye Garrett. Linda went to elementary school at Pleasant Prairie country school in Lucas County and attended high school in Chariton. She worked at the Lucas County Courthouse for forty-two years and was the county auditor for several of those years. She and her husband, Eldon, were married thirty-seven years and lived north of Chariton on acreage. Between the two of them they had four children, seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Linda loved to cook, made great pies, and was always busy doing crafts. The past few years, Linda stayed busy making beautiful beaded framed pictures that she gave to family and friends. She and Eldon spent fourteen years wintering in Texas.
Linda passed away July 30, 2019 at the age of 74. Preceding her in death was her beloved son, Brian Chamberlain.
Linda is survived by her husband, Eldon; daughter, Brenda (Randy) Chamberlain; daughter-in-law, Tracy Chamberlain; stepson, Bill Reed; stepdaughter, Terri (Jerry) Rumley; brother, Jim (JoAnn) Garrett; sisters, Carolyn (Jr) Nichols of Knoxville and Joanne (Dean) Sellers of Ankeny; sister-in-law, Maelene (Duane); brothers-in-law, Dorman (Kathy) and Chet (Sharon); seven grandchildren: Tyson, Haylie, Wyatt, Curran, Ryan, Taylor, and Ali; and ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Services was held Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, with family receiving friends prior to the service from 10 until 11 a.m. Memorials may be made in Linda’s name to Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton.
