At their meeting Jan. 21, Chariton Police Chief Tyler Ruble provided the Chariton City Council with figures for arrest and service calls the Chariton Police Department made in the 2018 calendar year.
Ruble said that the Chariton Police Department made 278 arrests in 2018, which included 95 felony charges,
“As I’ve said previously, that is an extremely large number of felony charges compared to past years. The majority of these were drug charges of delivery or third or subsequent offense. The need to continue our strong participation with the South Central Iowa Drug Task Force is very apparent,” Ruble said.
These numbers do not include arrests made outside of Lucas County as a result of drug investigations the Chariton Police Department assisted with.
