Due to the death of Lucas County Supervisor Steve Laing on June 25, 2019, an appointment will be made to fill the seat vacancy on the Lucas County Board of Supervisors.

According to Iowa code, the vacancy appointing committee consisting of Lucas County Auditor Julie Masters, County Recorder Laurie Hunter and County Treasurer Hanna Gwinn intend to make an appointment to fill the vacancy on July 29, 2019 at 12 noon.

Persons interested in the appointment should submit a letter of interest and resume to the Auditor’s office at the Lucas County Courthouse, 917 Braden Ave., Chariton, IA 50049, no later than 12 noon on July 19, 2019.

Applications must be submitted in hard copy. Residency in Lucas County is required at the time of appointment and throughout the length of the term. Further, residency in Lucas County for at least six months prior to July 29, 2019, is required.

The committee anticipates conducting in-person interviews of selected applicants in the boardroom at the Lucas County Courthouse during the week of July 22, 2019.
