Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street is participating in the national movement promoted by American Express known as Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30.
For several years now, American Express (AMEX) has promoted this event the Saturday after Thanksgiving encouraging customers to “shop small” at local businesses. This is to rally support for a big shopping day for small businesses just like “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday.”
Small Business Saturday takes place on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The following things are part of how the event works.
• Customers are invited to shop at local participating small businesses.
• Customers can enter for a grand prize drawing at each participating business one time, so the more businesses they visit, the more chances they have to win.
• Each participating business is encouraged to do something special for the day. That could be a special sale, providing refreshments, offering door prizes, or anything fun to make the day special for customers.
The local participants include: Cindy Lou’s Gifts and Quilt Shop, The Fifth Mile, Piper’s, THAT Place on Main, Montage of Memories, The Grand Bazaar, Granny’s Kitchen, Teresa’s Treasures, Frontier Trading Post, Hook, Line and Sinker, Hunter Brothers Tree Farm, NAPA, Chat Mobility, and True Value.
