Nathan Knaus (pronounced Ka-nouse) will be ordained and installed as the new pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church at 825 N. 7th St. in Chariton at a special service at the church this Sunday, June 23, at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the service.
Knaus, 31, is a Solomon, Kan., native who came to Chariton in July 2018. He had been serving as the vicar at Trinity Lutheran Church since then until he became pastor-elect on April 30, 2019.
The current church pastor, Dean Christ, will be retired once Knaus is ordained and installed this Sunday. Trinity Lutheran Church in Chariton is part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).
Knaus earned his Masters of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind. He explained that being vicar was part of his seminary training and that Pastor Christ was his supervisor during that time.
Knaus became pastor-elect at the end of this past April when all the District presidents for the National Synod held a placement meeting about where they would send all the seminarians and they decided to place Knaus as the new pastor at Trinity Lutheran.
