At their monthly meeting Monday night, the Chariton Water Board approved an amendment to a contract with U.S. Cellular regarding equipment it has on the water tower behind Chariton City Hall pending approval from the City of Chariton on the amendment.
U.S. Cellular provides cell service on the water tower behind Chariton City Hall. The amendment states that U.S. Cellular will take some of the old equipment it has off the tower behind city hall used to provide cell service and they will put new equipment on it.
U.S. Cellular is the only entity with equipment on the tower behind city hall.
The motion the board approved was to authorize Water Board Chairperson Evelyn Hull to sign the amended contract subject to the City of Chariton’s approval, because the Chariton City Council still has to vote on the amendment and approve it as well.
On a separate matter, the board also approved an updated contract with Rise Broadband, which provides Internet service on the First Street and Northwest water towers.
