At their meeting Monday night, the Chariton School Board approved a waterline project at Chariton High School in which the waterline in the north part of the building will be replaced.

District Director of Plant Operations Corey Johnson spoke some about the project before it was approved.

“This project has been on the radar and on the backburner for a long time and is something that needs to be done. The water line leaks and Rob Johansen said he can do the project this summer,” Johnson said.

The board approved the bid from Johansen’s of $16,808.91 to do the waterline project.

July School Board meeting moved from 8th to 15th

The board also approved to move next month’s regular board meeting from Monday, July 8, to Monday, July 15.

Superintendent Larry Achenbach explained that the reason for doing this is that the Thursday before July 8 is July 4 and four days may not be enough time to get everything ready for the meeting if it was held on July 8. He said that moving the meeting to July 15th instead would help people to have more time to get everything ready for the meeting.

After hearing this, board member Sarah Willis moved to move the July board meeting from July 8 to July 15, which the board approved unanimously. It will still be at 6:30 p.m., the usual time.
