Meyer and Lain to establish new law partnership effective Jan. 1

Attorneys Jenna Lain of Corydon (left) and Ray Meyer of Chariton will be forming a new law partnership together that will be called Meyer & Lain. The new partnership will be in effect Jan. 1, 2020.

Local attorneys Raymond C. Meyer of Chariton and Jenna K. Lain of Corydon have announced that they are establishing a new law partnership together called Meyer & Lain. The partnership will be effective Jan. 1, 2020, and although they will be working together as partners, they will still maintain separate offices in Chariton and Corydon like they have now.

When the new partnership is established, clients will be able to come to either law office in Chariton or Corydon for service. They will both still keep the same office hours as they have now.

Meyer explained the reasoning for wanting to go into a partnership. “One motivating factor for me is that I’m getting to be more senior in practice and I think it’s a good idea to have a good succession plan in place so that in case you’re not able to work at certain times, that there’s someone else who can fill in for you,” Meyer said.

Meyer said he doesn’t have any plans to retire soon. “The main reason I’m doing this is it would be better for our clients if we worked together. It’s also better to have two minds working together than one. It’s better to have someone to discuss things with and it’s a huge benefit to our clients to have two attorneys that could work on something and where one could cover for the other person if they’re gone,” Meyer added.

Meyer has been aware of Lain’s law practice in Corydon for some time and said he is very much impressed with her practice. Lain has been aware of Meyer’s practice as well and both thought that the other would be an excellent person to go into partnership with.
