Grace Bengtson was presented with the Dorothy Disney Miller Scholarship at the Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street office at 104 N. Grand on Friday morning.

Bengtson will be attending the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls this fall where she will major in Accounting. She is the daughter of Mike and Kris Bengtson of Chariton and a 2019 graduate of Chariton High School.

Bengtson was a member of National Honor Society at CHS and was a four-sport standout there in volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She is also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton.

The Dorothy Disney Miller Scholarship was established in 2008 through a bequest from the estate of the late Dorothy Disney Miller of Chariton. Disney Miller was a 35-year employee of Hy-Vee, Inc.

The Dorothy Disney Miller Scholarship offers financial assistance to a graduate of Chariton High School who ranks in their top one-half of their class, but may be overlooked by other scholarship awards. This scholarship may be used to pay tuition, room and board, or other expenses of education at any accredited community college, college or university.
