On Monday, Dec. 30, an open house at Chariton City Hall was held in honor of departing and incoming City Council members.
There was a time of meeting and greeting with punch, coffee, and desserts provided for all who attended. Steve Fenton was honored first for his work on the planning and zoning committee since 2004.
Departing council member Ruth Smith has been on the city council for 12 years and stated that she was most proud of getting the City of Chariton their own K-9 dog so that they didn’t have to keep borrowing one from out of town. She expressed that she was humbled for the city appreciating her work and electing her three times to the Council.
