The Lucas County Board of Supervisors held their first meeting of the New Year on Thursday morning, Jan. 2. The supervisors reorganized for 2020 appointing Larry Davis as chairman and Cathy Reece as vice chairman.
The board approved to designate the Chariton Newspapers as the official newspaper for Lucas County for the year 2020.
In other county business, Lucas County Assessor Tim McGee announced that they will be upgrading the security systems for the computers at the Lucas County Courthouse on Friday, Jan. 10.
Corrected sheriff’s deputy
salary resolution approved
The board approved a corrected salary increase resolution for Lucas County Sheriff’s Deputy Carter Riechmann. In December, the board approved a 50-cent per hour increase for RIechmann, which was only supposed to be 25 cents an hour. The corrected resolution stated that Riechmann shall receive a pay increase of 25 cents per hour making his hourly pay rate $20.89 an hour effective Dec. 17, 2019.
The Master Matrix Resolution relating to the construction of a confinement feeding operation structure was also approved.
By adopting the Master Matrix resolution, the board of supervisors agreed to evaluate every construction permit application for a proposed confinement feeding operation structure received by the board of supervisors between Feb. 1, 2020, and Jan. 31, 2021. The board also agreed to submit an adopted recommendation regarding each application to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
